This past week, we found a bullet in our turkey.
My master turkey-carving friend was sawing away until her power-pro cuisinart electric knife stopped bluntly. When she pulled back the steaming, savory flesh, she found the culprit—a silver bullet shaped tip. Guess that’s as organic as it gets!
As a manager—whether to a team of 100’s or a direct report of 1—have you ever wished your management knife would stop bluntly on that magic bullet? The bullet that, when executed, could magically motivate the folks around you.
That could convince them to work harder, do more, move faster.
That could put them on the path to smile more, sell more, produce more.
Well, as I myself discovered and as have the managers I have worked with, there is no magic bullet.
Intentional hard work, yes. A tool belt full of tools, yes.
No magic bullet.
But, there is hope.
There is a truth that, when used and applied with that team or that direct report, will be as close to a magic bullet as you are going to get.
And it all starts with one question.
It is the best question a manager can ask.
This week in Episode 11, on the Isogo TV | Live and Work Your Strengths Video Podcast, I share this truth and the story of a manager who actually offloaded his tasks to motivate his people.
{And, by the way, the magic bullet from our turkey turned out to be tip from the meat thermometer, but it sure did throw us for a loop!}
What do you think? Do you think it’ll work? Have you already tried it? Need help with the application piece??
Comment below or contact me directly, and I’ll get right back with you.
