ITV 122 | Lockdown Leadership: 5 Themes That Shine {Theme 2: Communication}

lockdown leadership theme 2 communication isogotv

She is stuck in middle management, and she is feeling the tension.

Nearly every day, she holds her breath and waits for mandates to be passed down or discovers that decisions have been made without consideration for impact on her team.

She sees poor leadership demonstrated all around her. Her boss, her HR, her Operations department. No one seems to be communicating.

In these uncertain times, it is especially nerve-wracking.

But, poor leadership communication is not the path she’s choosing herself.

As much as she can, she communicates. Her team knows they can rely on her to connect with them personally and have meaningful conversations. She knows what matters most to them and how they feel.

They trust her completely, and she serves them well. All by communicating, even though it is not modeled to her.

Leadership communication is not all coffee chats and laughter {though it needs that too}. Often it is hard work and takes courage.

If you, as a leader, can emphasize honest and frequent communication, you take a step toward the type of influence you are looking for as a leader, too.

ISOGO TV PODCAST EPISODE 122 LOCKDOWN LEADERSHIP THEME 2 LEADERSHIP COMMUNICATION ::

This is the second episode in a five part series, called Lockdown Leadership and the 5 Themes that Shine Through…from the best of the best leaders.

This series came about by us asking — what are the best leaders doing right now? What are they carrying forward in new ways to help their teams in times that continue to be uncertain?

In this series, I get the honor of collaborating with the internationally known coach and consultant, Murray Guest.

Together, over this series, we’ll be unpacking the FIVE common themes from leaders who are thriving right now:

  • Grace + Kindness
  • Communication
  • Individualization
  • Clarity
  • Wellbeing + Self-care

In the previous episode, we talked about the impact and prevalence of Grace and Kindness.

Today, the second theme is about leadership Communication. I think we can say that Communication has always been important. But the WAY that leaders are exercising this key element is what has us turning our heads.

We define it, share some stories, pass on the best practices we’ve seen and even leave you with a couple ways to practice it in your own role as a leader.

So, watch+listen below or catch this EPISODE 122 on iTunes, YouTube, GooglePlay, Stitcher or Spotify.
